The Wordsworth Hotel And Spa

“The loveliest spot that man hath ever found…”

Escape to the Lake District – a UNESCO World Heritage site – and you’ll find it’s easy to share William Wordsworth’s delight at the area.

The vale of Grasmere, right in the heart of the Lake District, is surrounded by magnificent mountains and the shimmering waters of Grasmere lake. From the hosts of golden daffodils in spring to the snow-capped stillness of winter, it’s truly magical at any time of year.

The Wordsworth Hotel, nestled within this picturesque village, is no less of a jewel. The Earl of Cadogan’s former shooting lodge, transformed into a country house hotel, is set within beautiful grounds and offers the finest cuisine and spa pampering.

The Coppermines Mountain Wedding Venue

A memorable wedding starts with a memorable location...

With magnificent views to the Coniston mountains above and Coniston Water in the valley below, The Coppermines Mountain Cottages are our unique and exclusive venue, perfect for a wedding or celebration and are licensed for civil ceremonies.

Set amongst bubbling becks, waterfalls and rugged crags, the valley unfolds before your eyes as you look out of the front door. Look left and you will be graced with the rolling Yewdale crags and to the right, The Old Man of Coniston rising 2000ft into the Lakeland skyline.

Restored from the original Victorian sawmill, the venue features four warm and welcoming cottages which interlink to form one large house, sleeping up to 22 people. There’s four reception rooms, 10 en-suite bedrooms and even four outdoor hot tubs for your private use.

There is also a smaller cottage 500 yards away which would be the ideal cosy hideaway for you and your partner once the celebrations have ceased.

There is also a large level area lying alongside the cottages which can accommodate various sizes of marquee or tipi can be accessed directly from our reception rooms. A wedding marquee at The Coppermines has a fantastic atmosphere and is a wonderful place to celebrate, dine and dance the night away. The largest marquee that can be sited can seat around 250 people for a wedding breakfast and host up to 300 people ‘buffet style’ for an evening reception.

From your arrival the venue is exclusively yours and you have the freedom to decide how you wish your celebration to unfold. There are just a few rules we ask you to follow but there are no set timetables and your occasion can be as unique as desired. We can guarantee that no two weddings held at The Coppermines are ever the same.
