About this venue
Located at the foot of Glen Esk in a spectacular rural setting, The Burn consists of a 200 acre private estate with an imposing Georgian mansion house at its centre.
Built in 1791 for General Lord Adam Gordon, the mansion house serves as the perfect venue for meetings, away-days, family celebrations and gatherings of all kinds; including weddings.
The house can comfortably accommodate up to 40 people and has 18 well-appointed guest bedrooms. In addition, The Burn has two further letting properties - a six bedroom courtyard house and a two bedroom gate house. All three properties can be hired for large events and if taken together can accommodate up to 60 guests with 26 bedrooms.
The Burn is conveniently located to be a base for exploring both the coast and the Cairngorms National Park. There are lots of walking routes in the area and Mt Keen - the most easterly Munro - is just a short drive from The Burn.
Weddings
The Burn is a fully-licensed wedding venue and is the perfect backdrop to your special day. Whether you want to enjoy a ceremony inside our elegant mansion house or outside with the rolling Scottish hills behind you, The Burn is a splendid setting for you to celebrate.
A wedding booking reserves the entire estate for you, with exclusive use of all areas of the house and grounds. Most importantly, every wedding booking is bespoke as we do not believe in set packages that dictate how you should celebrate your marriage. We have the ability to sleep up to 60 people within the house and its surrounding cottages, perfect for all the family to stay together on a magnificent occasion.
With our own catering team and dedicated wedding staff, we will always ensure that your day runs smoothly. Our lawns are the perfect size for marquees of all sizes and we have multiple connections with local florists, photographers, bands and more to help you with the planning process but will happily accommodate any arrangements you wish to make. We also run a well-stocked bar and can provide specific drinks or products upon request. Our prices are extremely competitive for such a unique venue.
Conferences
A popular conference destination for many businesses and institutions, The Burn offers tailored packages for each group depending on the number of attendees and the length of stay.
The Burn is a unique conference venue. Our ornate 18th century drawing room is the perfect space for discussions and presentations. Projectors and all presentation and viewing facilities can be provided, and there is also Wi-Fi in the main rooms. Our estate totals nearly 200 acres, so there is ample opportunity for team-building exercises or time away from the office to take in the dramatic Scottish scenery, plus we have a beautiful library to withdraw to at any time.
We can offer accommodation for up to 60 people in the manor house and surrounding cottages, while three homely meals a day can be included in the package.
Special Occasions
The Burn is a fantastic venue to host birthdays, reunions, parties and any other occasion you can think of. We are experienced in all manner of events, from Iranian BBQs to 90th birthday celebrations and everything in between!
You can be confident in leaving the organisation and event planning to us as we want you to remember your time here with fondness and think of The Burn as your second home while you are here. We can accommodate up to 60 guests in the manor house and its surrounding cottages with three cooked meals a day provided too.
Our grounds and buildings are ideal for family and friends of all ages to enjoy time together, with football nets, a tennis court, a putting green, bowls and a croquet lawn all within the immediate vicinity of the house.
