The Smugglers is a beautiful family-run Kentish restaurant, which offers its customers a unique blend of high quality dining hosted in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Situated in the picturesque seaside village of Birchington-on-Sea in Thanet, East Kent, The Smugglers is located in a 17th century grade II listed building and combines this history with a menu that blends delicious locally sourced ingredients, produced with an emphasis on taste and presentation. With the ancient surroundings as a backdrop, the restaurant provides a superb venue for small to medium size weddings, offering our usual high quality cuisine along with a service which will ensure that your wedding day will always be your special occasion. Our venue is licensed for wedding ceremonies. Your ceremony can take place either inside in our Westgate Room or Lounge Bar all year round or outside in our gazebo from March to October (weather permitting). We can cater for your every wedding need whether you are having your ceremony here or elsewhere. We offer high quality cuisine, tailored service and will work hard to make your wedding day special for you. Special Functions For your special occasion, The Smugglers is the ideal location. Our beautiful setting combined with fine food, we offer the perfect venue for any celebration - birthday party, wedding anniversary, christening, funeral wake or simply meeting up with a group of friends. We also cater for funeral wakes. We offer a range of menu options to suit your needs, from a finger buffet through to Four-course sit down meals. Business Meetings & Conferences Ideally situated just minutes from Birchington Railway Station, the Thanet Way and Margate, and parking to the front and rear of the restaurant, The Smugglers is a beautiful and functional setting for business meetings. We cater for groups from a few in number up to eighty and for those larger numbers, our function room is available for your exclusive use. A display screen is available for presentations. Catering is tailored specifically to your needs, from teas and coffees to a full buffet. Cabaret and Entertainment Nights We regularly host cabaret and entertainment nights at The Smugglers. These special events combine great local entertainment with a four course meal. These evenings typically commence at 7.15pm, with time to enjoy a pre-meal drink, before being served your first two courses from 7.45pm. The first act performs at around 9.00pm, followed by dessert and coffee. The entertainment continues from about 10.15pm for a further hour. Our cabaret menu offers a special selection of four starters, four main courses, four desserts, followed by coffee and mints.
