The University of Queensland’s Customs House is one of Brisbane’s premier restaurant, events and heritage destinations. Behind the grand Corinthian columns you will find exquisite boardrooms, a stunning ballroom, seminar rooms and a restaurant. Customs House is regarded as one of Brisbane’s most awarded function venues. Customs House caters for both corporate and private functions and is a spectacular venue for a wedding reception. The restaurant provides seating inside in beautiful heritage surroundings or outside on the terrace overlooking the river and the Story Bridge. THE LONG ROOM | Located on the Queen Street Level, this impressive event space features grand columns beneath the building’s magnificent copper dome and provides access to a private balcony overlooking the Brisbane River. Built in a cruciform, each section cross is 23m long and the height of the dome is 19.5m. The Long Room is the traditional name for the heart of customs services and is the perfect function space for large events. Banquet: 220 guests Cocktail: 300 guests Cabaret: 120 guests Theatre: 300 guests THE RIVER ROOM | Located on the River Level, this impressive event space has been recently refurbished to combine state of the art technology with contemporary styling. The room has marvellous views of the Story Bridge and provides direct access to the terrace overlooking the Brisbane River. This room can accommodate groups for a range of functions and events due to its operable walls. The River Room was once the Queen’s Warehouse and used as a bond store. Banquet: 120 guests Cocktail: 200 guests Cabaret: 100 guests Theatre: 200 guests THE RIVERSIDE TERRACE | The River Terrace is one of Brisbane’s premier outdoor function venues for cocktail parties and marquee events that can be configured to cater for a range of private functions and events. Entertain your guests by the river with the picturesque backdrop of Brisbane’s Story Bridge and the Kangaroo Point cliffs. With marquees exclusively available from November through to December, leave a lasting impression with a private riverside party, with a touch of heritage charm. Cocktail: 200 guests Marquee: 120 guests THE SYLVIA JONES BOARDROOM | Located on the Mezzanine Level, the boardroom is an exquisite, formal showpiece featuring crystal chandeliers, marble fireplaces and an 1880’s heritage cedar table. The elegance of this private function room is echoed in the finest crystal, silverware and napery, making this space appropriate for a range of private events. Banquet: 24 guests Cabaret: 22 guests THE REID ROOM | This private dining room, located on the Mezzanine level, will allow you to enjoy a range of intimate dining experiences. Featuring an elegant silky oak drop-leaf table, this room adjoins the Charitable Trusts room and balcony. At the turn of the last century, electric light was installed, and this room has the only remaining brass light fitting from that time. Banquet: 10 guests Cabaret: 8 guests THE CHARITABLE TRUSTS ROOM | This comfortable lounge setting, located on the Mezzanine Level, is suitable for pre-dinner drinks or cocktail functions. The balcony leading from this room still features the original iron lacework cast in England at the end of the last century. An exquisite crystal chandelier and paintings from the University Art Museum bring a special elegance to the room. This room also adjoins the Reid Dining Room and Balcony.
