The Spring Quartet is a family string quartet, all of us having trained at the Royal Northern / Manchester College of Music (at different times of course). Being a family gives us a special rapport which is conveyed in our playing. I would describe our repertoire as Classic FM meets Radio Two, playing everything from Bach (Brandenburg Concertos, Double Violin Concerto, Air in G etc) to Beatles (several!), AC/DC (Back in Black, Highway to Hell), Strauss (Blue Danube, Emperor Waltzes), Elbow (One Day Like This), Mozart (Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Marriage of Figaro etc), Elton John, Leroy Anderson (Blue Tango, The Typewriter, Forgotten Dreams etc) Bratton (Teddy Bears’ Picnic). We have been playing professionally since 1995 during which time we have been engaged for a short concert and workshop tour of Barbados, played for the wedding of one of Elton John's musicians, played for numerous weddings and several Corporate events, the latest (this year) being at the England Football Training Centre near Burton-on-Trent. Another recent event was at Southport Ramada Hotel playing for a joint 18th and 50th birthday celebration. No-one has ever expressed less than total delight at the variety (‘something for everyone’) and appropriate selection of our programme, tailored to each different group of guests. People often comment that we always seem so happy while we’re playing If you engage us, I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed!
