A stunning, unique and historical country house venue in Hertfordshire, Hatfield House is located just a short distance from Central London but offers all the advantages and qualities of a country venue. At Hatfield House, we understand that each event we host is unique and our experienced events design and management team is dedicated to ensuring that every aspect of each event is catered for and delivered to your expectations.
Renowned as the residence of Queen Elizabeth I during her childhood, Hatfield House is also associated with Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth II and of course the Cecil Family. Amongst the magnificent grounds of Hatfield House is where you will find our stunning venues, the historic and unique Old Palace and the bright and contemporary Riding School.
Hatfield House Hospitality aim to make the planning and organisation of your event as effortless and enjoyable as possible to ensure that on the day we help you deliver a successful event. We’ve been creating and designing corporate events and weddings since 1995 and pride ourselves on offering a high standard of catering, not to mention a wide variety of menus to cater for a range of tastes and requirements. The in-house catering team use our award-winning produce and are more than happy to discuss any particular requests to ensure that your wedding day is bespoke to you.
Our biggest indoor venue, the magnificent Tudor Old Palace, was built in 1485 and the childhood home of Elizabeth I where she held her first Council of State. It is one of the foremost examples of mediaeval brickwork in the country, and still retains its original wood beams and impressive high ceilings. The Tapestry, elegantly hanging in the Old Palace, is a replica of the original 'Devonshire Hunting Series', which you can now find in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The stunning and open Knot Garden, attached to the Old Palace, is based on Elizabethan patterns, and provides the most picturesque wedding photos. The Raised Lawn is perfect for outdoor blessings, drinks receptions, and lawn games, with breath-taking views of Hatfield House, home to Lord and Lady Salisbury who reside there today.
The Old Palace can accommodate large weddings from 80 – 250 guests on long or round banqueting tables, and space for a DJ and dancefloor. Our large bar is attached to the room, meaning guests do not have to wonder far for drinks, and is the perfect space to add additional entertainment such as photobooths.
The Riding School blends historic features with modern architecture to offer a contemporary alternative. Located in the Stable Yard, its origin was to accommodate the horses and families motor cars. In 2010 the Riding School was transformed into what it is today. The glass roof floods the space with natural daylight, and the mezzanine level adds a versatile aesthetic ideal for wedding ceremonies & drink receptions, or team building and breakout sessions. With a private bar attached to the main space it is perfect for keeping guests all in one room. There is also a lift and step free access. This is a fitting venue for corporates events and weddings of 40 – 110 guests. For weddings, The Riding School can also be hired out in conjunction with the Old Palace.
