Hackness Grange is a 19th century Grade II Georgian manor that pairs period features with elegant style, set in 17 acres of beautifully manicured grounds situated on the edge of the North York Moors. Our woodlands are teeming with wildlife and the lake is home to wild ducks and geese. Hackness Grange Country House Hotel has something for everyone - from groups of friends, to celebrations and business conferences.
All our rooms have en suite facilities and picturesque views of the gardens, lake and Yorkshire countryside. Choose to stay in one of our traditionally decorated rooms in the main house, or a contemporary courtyard room next to the old stables.
Guests can enjoy an A-la-carte menu in the Derwent Restaurant or real gastro pub food in the 2325 Lounge where all our dishes are prepared using locally sourced ingredients. Afternoon teas are served in the orangery overlooking the lake and the Johnstone Suite is used for weddings, events, conference meetings and our painting, yoga and dance retreats.
The village of Hackness nestles under the brow of hills forming the Derwent valley and is surrounded by acres of farmland. The local church can trace its story back to 680AD, the same year that the Abbess Hilda of Whitby founded a monastery at the side of the lake as a retreat for the monks and nuns.
The River Derwent runs alongside the hotel which is perfect for a spot of trout fishing, which we can arrange before your arrival through the Derwent Anglers Club. Or you might prefer to test your skills with a game of lawn croquet.
Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby Abbey, Dalby Forest, Castle Howard, the North York Moors and Railways are just some of the great places to visit whilst enjoying your stay at Hackness Grange. If you enjoy walking there are plenty of trails, including the Cleveland Way. We are home to the Tour De Yorkshire and the North York Moors is a fantastic location for cycling. The beaches, golf clubs, waterpark, SJT and Open Air Theatre are close by.
We look forward to giving you a warm Yorkshire welcome on arrival at Hackness Grange, and our friendly and experienced staff will ensure your stay is both relaxed and memorable.
