A Traditional Yorkshire Hotel Hackness Grange Hotel is a 19th Century Grade II Georgian Manor which retains its traditional heritage and period features but keeps pace with modern times.
In keeping with its traditional style, is the decoration / refurbishment, and the hotel has undergone a significant transformation as well as ongoing works. The main manor house has been decorated maintaining a traditional feel whereas the Courtyard Rooms have been done in a more modern, contemporary way. We have however thought of those guests who may have difficulty in climbing stairs in the main manor house but would still like the traditional experience, and so have set aside two rooms closest to the manor house which have been decorated in the traditional way (Rooms 29 and 30).
The Grounds The hotel sits on 17 acres of private grounds, surrounded by woodland and splendid hillside views. The focal point (after the hotel) is the charming lake which is home to ducks and geese. And, if you visit us around April / May then you may see some goslings patrolling the grounds!
There are pleasant walks to take around the grounds and along the river, which the grounds border, and if you like fishing, we can arrange for you to fly fish for trout while you’re here along the River Derwent. The hotel is working together with the Derwent Anglers Club, one of Englands longest established clubs so please contact the hotel on 01723 882037 for prices and rod information.
Our Rooms We have 28 excellent rooms all with en-suite facilities and spectacular views of the gardens, lake and rolling countryside. There are 13 rooms in the main house and 15 across in the Courtyard. Whether you prefer Traditional or Contemporary we have rooms to suit you and the size of your party.
Dining Dining at the hotel is a culinary experience. ‘The Derwent Restaurant’ offers an A-la-carte menu with locally sourced ingredients, while the 2325 Lounge Bar offers real gastro pub food and a well-stocked bar. Both rooms are traditionally decorated, with open fires roaring (when it’s cold enough!) and offer garden, lake and hillside views.
Our Yorkshire Location We’re a stone’s throw to Scarborough and near to Whitby, Pickering, Helmsley, Robin Hoods Bay and a host of other beautiful Yorkshire destinations.
Alternatively, you can stay close to home and stroll around the 17 acre grounds of our delightful manor, fish for Trout in the river Derwent or play croquet, all before having lunch in the 2325 Lounge Bar. Or, simply relax and read a book!
