The Old Rectory is a beautiful Grade two listed stone building in Handsworth on the edge of Sheffield. Tucked away in its own quiet grounds, this former rectory could be out in the middle of the countryside, yet conveniently for you and your guests it's actually only a short distance from the transport networks of the Motorway and the city centre too.
Steeped in history, The Old Rectory is certainly one of South Yorkshire's more unique Wedding Venues. From the moment you pass under the stone arch of the old coach house, to the front of the fine old Georgian Rectory, which looks out across its own lawn and garden, you will know you have found your perfect wedding venue.
The Old Rectory has all you need in a wedding reception venue. Greet your guests down the red carpet, through the French windows into the fine Georgian ‘Bramley’ lounge with its fabulous fire place. Mingle with your guests over a glass of Bucks Fizz or Pimms in the large ‘Ballifield’ drawing room, bathed in light from the high shuttered windows. Finally sitting down to eat in the spacious ‘Main Hall’ with your family and friends. Later on the main hall becomes the perfect place for a disco or band, alongside our excellently stocked bar.
The wedding reception venue can cater for an intimate setting for two, up to ‘a bit of a do’ for 200 guests. Accommodating up to 140 guests for an elegant sit down meal. For a more informal buffet, the venue can safely accommodate up to the maximum of 200 guests. With a choice of fine old Georgian rooms, there is also plenty of choice for the more select gatherings.
Conferences The Old Rectory is an ideal conference venue for large groups with break out rooms for side meetings or just smaller meeting room hire is also available. There are 5 different sized rooms available to hire, with capacity up to 170 guests in the largest. There is the use of a fully licensed bar and catering facilities.
We can cater for anything, from a working lunch of sandwiches and fruit, right up to a three course silver service meal. The Old Rectory conference venue offers a personal touch to any event and flexible for each and every occasion.
Giving something back to Sheffield Our not-for-profit organisation has been hosting events, conferences and meetings in our variety of rooms for over 40 years.
As a registered charity (number 1139416) all profits generated through weddings, functions and conferencing are invested straight back into the up keep of the building to provide a community building at the heart of Handsworth.
It allows us to subsidise the rents of classes like yoga, karate, boxercise, art society and many more. It helps us house the local Handsworth museum and to run our own weekly social groups like the pensioners lunch clubs , tea dances and mums and toddlers.
