Balinakill nestles on a hillside in seven acres of peaceful grounds on the west side of the Kintyre Peninsula in Argyll, easily accessible by air, boat or road. This impressive Victorian country house retains a wealth of period features and is set in mature gardens on the edge of the village of Clachan, one of the oldest settlements in Kintyre.
Balinakill is rented on an exclusive use basis. The house has twelve en-suite bedrooms, an additional children’s play/bedroom, three large public rooms – 2 with open fires and one with a piano and pool table, a fully equipped country kitchen, a Victorian dining room with an open fire and a table to seat up to 24, and a cosy gunroom bar with a wood burning stove.
Balinakill is the perfect location for a week or weekend break, weddings, civil ceremonies, team building, family get-togethers, special celebrations, anniversaries, Christmas and New Year or a surprise party! Whatever the event, Balinakill will make the occasion special and memorable. Balinakill comes alive when full of people enjoying themselves and whether you want live music or a quiet ‘time out’ watching the sunset from the upstairs lounge, with a choice of welcoming and comfortable public rooms, we can cater for everyone.
The stock your own bar is often a magnet for those just wanting to chat over a drink, while the dining room allows everyone to sit down to a meal together before ceilidh dancing, partying or just enjoying being together in the oak room or upstairs lounge. A new conservatory room overlooking the garden leads straight onto the barbecue area and is a light, bright room in which to relax or enjoy a game of pool or snooker. While staying in the house you stock your own private bar with your own drinks and serve yourself. We are happy to accept drinks/beer deliveries prior to arrival to allow your keg to settle!
Weddings When you book Balinakill Country House for your wedding or civil ceremony you have exclusive use of the entire house in which to relax and enjoy your preparations in a leisurely manner. Balinakill is the perfect location for small intimate weddings, civil/partnership ceremonies and for larger celebrations with catering for up to 150 guests (marquee required for table seating over 50 guests).
Balinakill has recently been approved and licensed by Argyll & Bute Council to hold civil ceremonies. The ceremony can take place within the house or garden, or alternatively in Clachan Church, the oldest church in Argyll still used for public worship.
A marquee extends our function room for larger weddings and Clachan village offers a broad range of high-quality local accommodation for additional guests.
We offer a Wedding Management Service and will be happy to discuss all your requirements, menus and special requests. We offer a choice of local caterers who all work from a separate catering kitchen at the back of the house. Whatever your ideas are, please feel free to contact us and we will do our utmost to help you create exactly what you have in mind for your special day.
We can arrange a variety of additional services such as bands, bag-pipers, florists, hairdressers, beauticians, photographers and children’s entertainment. Alternatively, you are welcome to make your own arrangements.
NB. Please note that for weddings where guest numbers exceed the capacity of the house or require the marquee there will be additional rental charges according to guest numbers and individual requirements.
