The barn is a blank canvas venue - it is yours to style as you wish, to create a space that is personal, individual and unique to you. We know every bride is different, every couple is unique and your wedding day should reflect that. People have been marrying from this house since 1588 and even before! The Manor House as we know it, was built, to celebrate the demise of the Spanish Armada. Standing alone, set in it’s beautiful grounds and looking out across the valley to the Black Mountains, we are blessed with a wonderful and unique position – no traffic noise, stunning night skies, privacy and tranquillity. Who could ask for more?

Included in the rental are 2 nights in our 4 bed/4 bath Honeysuckle cottage which adjoins the barn. You can use this space as you wish- as a crèche or area for baby sitters or a self-catering space for family perhaps. We also include the wedding night for the happy couple in our sensational one bed cottage, The Coachmans. This is self-catering and we supply a romantic wedding breakfast.
Many traditional venues only offer a handful of structured packages, hidden with obligatory choices, ‘must haves’ and hidden extras which can leave couples feeling constrained, hemmed in and with no flexibility, control or power to create the day they really desire. Weddings at Tall John’s House give you complete control to take over the barn from Friday to Sunday and transform it into the space YOU want for your wedding day.
The icing on the (wedding) cake is that on top of the use of our beautiful barn, you have access to two enchanting, protective courtyards on either side of the barn, with views out across the Black Mountains. You also have the use of the exquisite grounds at Tall Johns House, including the stunning walled garden, for pre-dinner drinks and wedding photographs. You’re welcome to attach your own marquee to the barn if you’re after that extra bit of space.
For civil ceremonies we can offer you our charming gazebo on a natural grass stage in the gardens, our beautiful split level Granary or the manor house itself.
We don’t charge corkage so you can mix up your favourite cocktails or source your own champagne, we allow fireworks and confetti. We are licensed to hold ceremonies on site in the barn, in the gazebo in the garden, in the manor house or in our granary but if you want that church wedding service then there is a beautiful church that sits by the waters edge of Llangorse Lake, a mere 5 minutes down the lane from us. If you want something outrageous and a bit off the beaten track, then just ask and we’ll do our best to make it happen.
The wedding barn stands in the stunning grounds of Tall John's House which is available as a separate rental for accommodation for the wedding party if wished but not obligatory.
